Connecting With You – March 27

Hello everyone,

Well, this has been a busy week for many as people scramble around trying to put procedures and plans in place and learn new ways of doing things. While we think of those who have been thrust into more action than they care to have and the stress that it places on them ( especially health care workers and other essential people ) , we also think of those who have been forced into a drastic slow down, companies and individuals alike.

I invite you to continue to pray for the world. Pray for countries and communities who have be hit hard with the virus thus far. Pray for those who aren't taking this pandemic seriously. Pray for those who are overly anxious.  Pray for families, friends and neighbours. Pray for those who you know well and those you have never met.

I have heard the words "unprecedented times" in many of the speeches shared by leaders. Unprecedented times yes, unknown times we are living in and very foreign to us, therefore patience and loving kindness is needed as we go into the unchartered waters.

I have spent a lot of time online this week connecting with colleagues and the wider church especially. My mind is swirling. I tuned into a "town hall" meeting that was called by our Regional Council , Western Ontario Waterways, on Wednesday. This comment that was made by one of the hosts stood out for me. " Even though the Church hasn't been recognized as one of the essentials, the Church IS very much ESSENTIAL. The work hasn't changed, just how we do it has changed." So, let's all come together to continue to do the work of the Church in whatever way we can.

There was much conversation. Part of the agenda was devoted to the theme of stewardship. We are all reminded that especially at this time it is ever more important to remember the support that is offered to many through the Mission and Service dollars that we are able to donate. Even though we are not presently meeting in the church buildings, there are ongoing expenses. There is much stress around finances for many but we are invited to think about our part as a disciple of Christ. Part of our Christian response is to live generously. So please, if you are able, remember your church givings.

There are a number of options for you.

1. Sending a cheque, or post dated cheques to your treasurer by mail

2. PAR , Pre Authorized Remittance- you can find a form and information here

3. Canada Helps online organization –

If you are needing a phone call for any help in these areas, or just to chat, I am here, so please don't hesitate to be in touch with me. Stay well everyone!

I leave you with these words from scripture in hopes that it will bring some comfort.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:6-7, NIV).

in peace,
